Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has expressed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani in 2027, while calling for the recovery of funds allegedly misappropriated from Kaduna State.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna at the weekend, Sani said efforts would be made to ensure that any public funds unlawfully taken from the state treasury are returned.
“I can fully assure you that we will do everything possible to see that as far as we are concerned every kobo that has been looted from Kaduna State is returned,” he said.
The former lawmaker alleged that a $350 million loan secured during the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai did not reflect in widespread infrastructural development across the state.
He claimed that only a few projects were executed in parts of Kaduna North Local Government Area despite the scale of the borrowing.
Sani further alleged that the previous administration was characterised by violations of citizens’ rights and abuse of power, adding that there was a need to restore any rights infringed upon during that period.
On the 2027 general elections, he said there was no credible alternative to Tinubu and Uba Sani, expressing optimism about their chances at the polls.
He also urged political parties to respect the principle of zoning and power rotation, stressing that fairness in leadership selection remains vital to national unity and stability.
