The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has praised the professionalism, courage and sacrifice of troops under Operation Fansan Yamma, assuring them of stronger Federal Government support to sustain the fight against banditry in the North West.
Matawalle gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters Joint Task Force (North West), Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), where he met with senior commanders and frontline personnel.
He encouraged the troops to remain resilient, vigilant and focused as operations intensify to restore lasting peace, security and stability across affected communities.
The Minister further reiterated the government’s commitment to improving logistics, welfare and operational resources required to maintain tempo and secure decisive victory against criminal elements.
A statement issued by the Media Information Officer of OPFY, Captain David Adewusi, said the Minister also applauded the leadership style of the Theatre Command, noting that recorded achievements were clear evidence of coordinated operational synergy.
Highlights of the visit included an operational briefing, presentation of souvenirs, and a closed-door interaction with troops deployed across the theatre.
Responding, the Theatre Commander, Major General Warrah Bello Idris, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a strong morale booster for personnel actively engaged in kinetic and non-kinetic operations.
He said the visit reflects the Federal Government’s unwavering resolve to provide strategic backing for ongoing missions aimed at defeating banditry and related crimes across the North West.
“The visit reaffirms the government’s commitment and support to end banditry in the North West and beyond,” General Warrah said.
