National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwadat, has declared that the party has amassed the political strength required to unseat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State in 2027.
Yilwadat, who projected overwhelming victory for the APC at all levels, said the party is strategically positioned to reclaim the governorship seat and dominate the Presidential, Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly polls in the next general elections.
The APC National Chairman made the declaration on Saturday during a grand reception ceremony for defectors from the PDP, Labour Party (LP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), held at Polo Stadium in Jos, the state capital.
The event attracted prominent party figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, Governors of Nasarawa and Benue States, deputy governors, and other top APC stakeholders.
Speaking with confidence, Yilwadat said the wave of defections demonstrated that the APC had become the most viable and dominant political platform in Plateau State.
“Today in Plateau, we have only one political party. If you are not in APC, then you are not in any political party,” he declared.
“I am proud to say we have enough power, enough firepower, enough engine oil, and enough engine to win the gubernatorial election.”
He maintained that the APC is strong across the three senatorial districts and is ready to record what he described as a landslide win.
“We have enough power to win the central, southern, and northern zones and win hands down. In 2027, President Tinubu, the APC gubernatorial candidate, senators, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly candidates under APC will win all elections in Plateau State,” he stated.
Nentawe further urged members of other political parties to join the APC ahead of what he called a decisive political transition, warning that anyone who refused to join now might be left behind.
“It is either APC or nothing,” he said, calling on politicians still in PDP, ADC, and other parties to defect before what he described as “too late.”
During the reception, the National Chairman formally welcomed former senators, governorship aspirants, and serving lawmakers from various opposition parties into the APC fold.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee and all members of the APC, I welcome all the defectors from PDP, Labour Party, PRP, NNPP, and ADC to our great party,” he said, assuring that all members old and new would be treated equally.
