Hundreds Troop Into APC as Kefas’ Defection Triggers Political Storm in Taraba

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Jalingo

Hundreds of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Taraba State are reportedly trooping into the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the formal defection of Governor Agbu Kefas scheduled for Wednesday.

The rising wave of defections has triggered a major political storm, culminating in the collapse of the PDP structure across the state.

On Tuesday, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, led the exit as he resigned from the PDP and announced his movement to the APC.

His action immediately set off a chain reaction, with all commissioners, special advisers, and 16 recently elected local government chairmen under the PDP dumping the party for the APC.

Party insiders say the governor’s planned defection has been the rallying point, drawing top officials and grassroots leaders into the ruling party.

Sources added that the simultaneous resignation of key officers at both state and local government levels has left the PDP without a functional structure ahead of Wednesday’s political realignment.

More details will follow as the situation unfolds.
