Ex-AMAC Boss Joins APC, Declares Anambra Governorship Bid, Lauds Tinubu’s Leadership

DELTA: Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, former Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his intention to contest the 2025 Anambra governorship election.

Speaking at his country home in Osumenyi, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Ukachukwu praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership style, describing it as a transformational agenda designed to rebuild the nation.

“Tinubu means well for Nigeria. He is the only president addressing Nigeria’s challenges head-on. He is running the country like a business, which is what we need to prosper,” Ukachukwu stated.

He likened Tinubu’s policies to a trader reinvesting in goods for future returns, noting that Nigerians will eventually reap the benefits of his tough economic reforms.

“In business, you sell all your goods to buy new ones. At first, it may seem like you’re lacking funds, but with time, the gains become evident. Tinubu’s policies may appear harsh, but they are necessary for national recovery,” he explained.

Ukachukwu dismissed the notion that Tinubu harbors any bias against the Igbo.

He said, “Tinubu does not hate the Igbo. The reality is that everyone across the country—Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo—faces the same economic hardship. His policies are not one-sided; they are focused on fixing the nation,” he said.

Ukachukwu emphasized his readiness to replicate Tinubu’s governance model in Anambra State if elected governor.

“I will run Anambra like a business, ensuring development within the first three months in office. Four years is enough to make a significant and unforgettable impact,” he promised.

He also vowed to address insecurity, poverty, and hardship currently facing the state under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

“I have been in politics since 1999. I understand what it takes to lead. My administration will be inclusive, bringing everyone on board, regardless of political affiliation, tribe, or religion,” he assured.

Ukachukwu revealed that he joined the APC after persistent calls from civil society groups and political movements, including the Ikemba Frontiers, Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, and 21/21 Movement, who urged him to contest the Anambra governorship election.

He called on Anambra residents to continue supporting President Tinubu and praying for his administration.

“We must support Tinubu to succeed for the good of all Nigerians. His success is Nigeria’s success,” Ukachukwu added.
