DELTA: Sir Okenmor Fidelis Tilije, a prominent philanthropist, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving education in Ndokwa Nation, Delta State, through sustained scholarship programs and infrastructure development.
Tilije, who is renowned for his generosity, funds the education of 413 pupils at Our Lady’s Apostle Nursery and Primary School, Obiaruku.
He pledged to continue the initiative until the school enrollment reaches 1,000, emphasizing his dedication to providing quality education for children in the community.
Speaking during a visit to the school, Tilije said, “Education is the foundation of every great society. My dream is to ensure that no child in Ndokwa is denied access to education due to financial constraints.”
In addition to the scholarships, he has invested in upgrading the school’s facilities, including installing doors and windows, tiling classrooms, and supporting the construction of secondary school blocks to create a conducive learning environment.
Recognizing the efforts of teachers, Tilije introduced a monthly allowance of ₦10,000 for each staff member to boost morale and encourage excellence in teaching.
The philanthropist further revealed plans to establish a school farm that will include fish, pig, poultry, and crop farming to generate funds for future projects and promote self-sufficiency.
Tilije also awarded scholarships to two Reverend Sisters from the school—Rev. Sr. Louise Okiemute Edafefevwioni and Rev. Sr. Antonia Orede—to pursue further studies in Russia, a gesture aimed at promoting human capital development.
Speaking on Tilije’s impact, a teacher at the school, Mrs. Chidinma Okafor, said, “Sir Tilije’s support has transformed our school. His generosity inspires us to give our best to the pupils. We are grateful for his commitment to education and community development.”
Community members have lauded Tilije’s initiatives, describing him as a leader who prioritizes human development and leaves a lasting legacy.
A parent, Mr. Emeka Uche, noted,
“Sir Tilije is a blessing to Ndokwa Nation. His efforts are giving our children hope for a brighter future.”
