A soldier and a police officer have been sanctioned after a public altercation between them in Jos, Plateau State.
The uniformed men were captured in a viral video exchanging blows while their colleagues struggled to separate them at Hamaz, along Ahmadu Bello Way in Jos.
Although the cause of the clash was not immediately known, authorities said the incident occurred on December 1, 2025, and was promptly investigated.
Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alabo Alfred, confirmed that disciplinary actions had been taken by both security agencies involved.
He said the fracas was “taken seriously and thoroughly investigated,” adding that those responsible had been sanctioned by their respective managements.
According to him, the misunderstanding between the security personnel has since been resolved, with new measures introduced to prevent a repeat of such an incident.
SP Alfred assured residents that the situation was under control and that normalcy had returned to the area.
He urged members of the public to continue their daily activities without fear or concern.
“The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel Olubgemiga Adesina, psc, assures the public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order,” the statement added.
