Abuja – The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is currently holding a strategic meeting in Abuja, signaling renewed efforts to reorganize the party at the state level.
Opening the session, BoT Chairman Senator Mao Ohuabunwa emphasized the body’s commitment to restoring confidence within the party and organizing congresses in states where they have yet to be conducted.
Senator Ohuabunwa noted that the national leadership is ready to collaborate with all state chapters to usher in fresh leadership and ensure stability across the country.
He outlined a roadmap that includes conducting overdue state congresses, consolidating ongoing achievements, and supporting the national leadership in steering the party back on course.
“These measures are essential to strengthen grassroots engagement, ensure transparency, and foster unity within the party,” Ohuabunwa said.
He added that holding timely congresses and reinforcing organizational discipline would help rebuild trust among members and present a more credible and organized PDP ahead of future elections.
The meeting brings together key figures, including Senator Ohuabunwa, PDP factional chairman Abdul-Rahman Mohammed, National Secretary Senator Sam Ayanwu, Philip Tanimu Aduda, and several state chairmen.
Some members of the National Assembly were also in attendance, highlighting the importance of the gathering in charting the party’s next steps.
Observers say the meeting underscores the Wike-led faction’s determination to assert influence within the PDP and accelerate internal reforms.
The party is expected to announce the schedule for state congresses in the coming weeks, a move seen as critical for resolving factional tensions.
With upcoming elections on the horizon, the Wike-led BoT appears intent on presenting a united front and reinforcing organizational discipline across all PDP chapters.
