AFCON 2025: Super Eagles to Earn $5,000 per Goal as NFF Unveils Incentives

By Peter Onyekachukwu

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will earn a $5,000 bonus for every goal scored at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as part of efforts to motivate the team at the tournament.

Our correspondent gathered that the incentive package was approved by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Sports to boost players’ morale and performance.

The goal-based reward is in addition to other match bonuses expected to be paid during the competition, as the football authorities seek a strong showing from the three-time African champions.

A similar incentive structure was earlier introduced during the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers, where players were rewarded for positive results.

Under the arrangement, Eric Chelle’s side reportedly received $10,000 following their victory over the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles will be looking to add to their earnings and momentum when they face the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in their next Group C encounter.

The highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 9 p.m. Nigerian time tonight.
