Oborevwori Hails Udurhie I at 60, Says Reign Has Brought Peace, Stability to Idjerhe

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described the reign of the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Obukowho Monday Whiskey, JP, PhD, Udurhie I, as a period marked by peace, unity and steady development, as the monarch clocks 60 years and celebrates his fifth coronation anniversary.

In a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor said the twin celebration, holding on Sunday, January 18, 2026, reflects not only sixty years of life but five years of purposeful and people-centred traditional leadership.

Governor Oborevwori noted that since ascending the throne, Udurhie I has demonstrated exemplary leadership anchored on wisdom, humility and inclusiveness, qualities he said have strengthened unity and promoted enduring peace within Idjerhe Kingdom.

According to the Governor, the prevailing atmosphere of peace and stability in the kingdom stands as a testament to the monarch’s commitment to dialogue, consensus-building and respect for traditional institutions.

He added that the anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the royal father’s contributions to the preservation of cultural values, peaceful coexistence and the overall progress of Idjerhe Kingdom.

The Governor further commended the monarch for his consistent support for development initiatives and his cooperation with government at all levels, noting that such partnerships have continued to drive grassroots development and socio-economic growth in the area.

Oborevwori said the monarch’s reign has earned him the respect and admiration of his subjects and well-meaning Deltans, describing his leadership as one defined by stability and progress.

He prayed for God’s continued guidance, good health and longevity for the royal father, wishing him many more years of impactful service on the throne.
