The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping with the arrest of three suspects linked to the abduction of a 55-year-old man in Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest followed an intelligence-driven operation carried out by police operatives at Bagudo Market, the command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed in a statement on Friday.
According to the police, the suspects—Abubakar Muhammadu, Abdullahi Majo and Ali Alhaji Jemu—are believed to be responsible for the abduction of the victim from Bani Koso village in Shanga LGA.
SP Usman said locally fabricated weapons were recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest.
He further stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of investigation,” the statement added.
The police command urged members of the public to remain security-conscious and continue to provide timely information on suspicious activities through its control room channels.
