DELTA: The Delta State Police Command has arrested and paraded several suspects linked to crimes, including murder, car theft, child trafficking, cultism, and robbery.

Addressing journalists during a press briefing in Asaba on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, detailed the arrests and progress of investigations into various criminal activities.

SP Edafe disclosed that two suspects, Junior Emmanuel (33) and Julius Samuel (28), were arrested for allegedly murdering a cab driver on December 15, 2024, at Osubi.

“The suspects lured the driver to a secluded area, strangled him, and abandoned his body in a bush,” he said. “They also left behind a female passenger and were caught while attempting to sell the stolen vehicle in Warri. Both vehicles linked to the case have been recovered.”

The command also arrested two suspects, Osio Emmanuel Nyerohwo (28) and Sabiu Adamu (26), for allegedly robbing tricycle passengers. Items recovered include two locally made guns, 13 live cartridges, nine mobile phones, and a tricycle used for their operations.

In an unusual twist, a suspect, Smart Amanda (40), staged her own abduction to extort N1.95 million from a Facebook acquaintance. SP Edafe said, “She was arrested alongside her accomplice, Faith Oghenejabor. Investigations revealed that Amanda and Oghenejabor are the same person.”

A suspected leader of the Eiye Confraternity, Prosper Akeni (32), was also apprehended in Orhuwhorun. Recovered items include a Beretta pistol, a revolver, three locally made guns, and 35 rounds of ammunition.

Three suspects, including Bishop Bobi (44) and Lucky Adoko (39), were arrested in connection with armed robbery and cult activities in Oghara and Sapele. Police recovered a pump-action gun and a cut-to-size locally made firearm.

A barber, Volte Bale (26), was arrested in Ogborikoko for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old boy repeatedly over two years. SP Edafe explained, “The suspect lured the boy into his shop, exposed him to explicit content, and assaulted him.”

Blessing Kojo Oghenefejiri (25) was apprehended for deceiving her boyfriend and another couple about the death of her six-week-old baby. According to police, she gave the baby to another couple under false pretenses.

SP Edafe assured residents of the police command’s dedication to ensuring the safety of Delta State.

“We remain committed to bringing criminals to justice and urge the public to report any suspicious activities. Together, we can make Delta a safer place,” he said.

All suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
