DELTA: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged political appointees to take the lead in enforcing his administration’s whistleblowing policy by reporting substandard and abandoned projects in their localities.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of Senator Ighoyota Amori as his Chief Adviser at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, on Wednesday, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that video recordings and accurate reports on poorly executed projects would help the government blacklist erring contractors and ensure strict adherence to contractual agreements.

“Political appointees must take the lead in monitoring projects in their areas and advising the government accordingly,” Oborevwori said. “Governance is a team effort, and we must all work together to give Deltans the best and make our state the envy of others.”

The governor reiterated his commitment to fiscal discipline, infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and small and medium enterprise growth, adding that the administration’s achievements over the past 19 months have gained national recognition.

“We are determined to keep our expenditure within revenue limits and ensure judicious allocation of resources, fostering economic prosperity and sustainable development,” he stated.

While congratulating Chief Amori on his appointment, Oborevwori described him as a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State and a key figure in the state’s political development.

“Chief Amori’s political experience and wisdom will be invaluable in advancing our MORE Agenda. His appointment aligns with Section 196 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, and I have no doubt he will deliver,” the governor added.

The governor also reminded all political appointees to remain accountable and actively engage with their communities.

“It is your duty to communicate the policies and programs of this administration and gather feedback from the people. We are committed to delivering the dividends of democracy, and your performance will be closely monitored,” Oborevwori warned.

In his remarks, Chief Amori expressed gratitude to the governor for the appointment, pledging to provide valuable counsel that would drive the state’s development.

“I urge all Deltans to continue supporting Governor Oborevwori in his mission to accelerate sustainable socio-economic and infrastructural growth,” he stated.
