DELTA: Act Sports Di Oyibo Limited has expanded its grassroots football development with the launch of a new academy in Nigeria, strengthening its partnership with Italy’s Torino Football Club.
The Act Sports Di Oyibo Academy, unveiled on Monday in Egbeda, Lagos, will serve as a talent hub for young footballers in Nigeria.
The unveiling marks a significant step in Act Sports’ commitment to discovering and nurturing young Nigerian football talent while forging stronger ties with European clubs.
The initiative follows the success of Act Sports’ existing academy in Kwale, Delta State, and aims to provide professional training and international exposure to local players.
Speaking at the unveiling, Pastor Samuel Robinson Oyibo, Director and CEO of Act Sports, emphasized that the academy is driven by a passion for youth development rather than financial gain.
“I am ecstatic about this new academy because it will create jobs and offer young footballers a platform to build their careers.
Oyibo said. “Yes, making money is good, but my greatest joy will be seeing these boys fulfill their destinies through football.”
The event featured the unveiling of 22 players alongside a technical crew led by former Warri Wolves manager Efetoboho Davidson Akpobome and ex-Super Eagles defender Julius Akpele who is the head of Act Sports Scouting team, Blessing Itoje who is the head of Protocol for Act Sports, Armstrong Silas who is Act Sports Team Manager. Other experienced coaches were also introduced.
Players unveiled during the ceremony included Nwayasi Sunday, Emmanuel Oruma Oghetega, Iawiwi Dunamis, Itumu Ogunbor Wealth, Samuel Maro Adjekughele, Itumu Ogunbor Thompson, Onuetuhieokwu Marvellous, Ekokogbe Ogaga Joseph, Eric Oriekachukwu Emmanuel, Osondu Liberty, Uchenna Winner Nwachinemere and Alloy Godstime.
Others are, Miracle Onyeme Chukwuemeka, Chukwurah Nnabuife, Udomah Victor Uche, Onoja Chibundu Michael, Onwuatuegwu Joseph Ifechuckwudi, Igwuebuike Matthew Ndubuisi, Okonye Chinedu Benjamin, Onate David, Kpabuluku Joshua and Godsgift Ayabotu Kene
Members of the technical crew also unveiled included Omotayo Alimi, Ighagbon Prince Greg, Armstrong Silas, Joseph Shobunke, Taiwo Oche Matthew and Ebeagwu Owen Gabriel. Onyekachukwu Kelvin Meluwa
Oyibo also revealed plans for an upcoming playing tour in Italy, facilitated by Torino FC.
“We are not just launching an academy; we are also preparing a team for a series of friendly matches in Torino. An advance team from the Serie A club will visit Nigeria in March to assess our readiness,” he disclosed.
The academy also signed collaboration agreements with Ogunbor FC (Sapele), All Stars International Sports Academy (ASISA) Warri, Delta Lions FC (Illah), KG Sports Academy (Agbor), and Peterson Football Academy (Agbor).
