GHANA: Act Sports Di Oyibo Limited has expanded its grassroots football development initiative with the launch of a new academy in Elmina, Central Region, Ghana.
The move further cements its partnership with Italy’s Torino Football Club, providing young Ghanaian footballers with an opportunity for professional training and international exposure.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Pastor Samuel Robinson Oyibo, Director and CEO of Act Sports, expressed his excitement about the academy’s potential impact. “This is not just about football; it’s about giving young talents a future. We are creating opportunities, not just for players, but also for coaches and technical staff.
“Making money is good, but my greatest joy is seeing these boys fulfill their destinies through football.”
The event also saw the official introduction of key academy officials, including who will oversee operations in Ghana.
In a friendly match to mark the launch, Act Sports and Quick Vision played to a 2-2 draw, showcasing the talent pool the academy aims to develop.
Alexander Acquaye Jr, a former professional footballer with experience in Europe and Asia, was unveiled as the academy’s technical lead. “We are here to shape the next generation of footballers, ensuring they meet global standards,” Acquaye stated. “Our collaboration with Torino FC means our players will have direct access to European football structures.”
Oyibo further revealed that plans are underway for an international playing tour in Italy, facilitated by Torino FC. “This is just the beginning. An advance team from Torino will visit Nigeria in March to assess our players, and we are preparing a team for a series of friendly matches in Italy,” he announced Alexander Acquaye Jr leading the Technical of the team,

The academy’s expansion into Ghana follows the success of its existing setup in Kwale, Delta State, Nigeria. It has also signed collaboration agreements with football academies across Nigeria, including Ogunbor FC (Sapele), All Stars International Sports Academy (ASISA) Warri, Delta Lions FC (Illah), KG Sports Academy (Agbor), and Peterson Football Academy (Agbor), solidifying its role in youth football development across West Africa.
