DELTA: As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Deputy Senate President Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term, citing his administration’s economic policies as a game-changer for Nigeria.
Addressing stakeholders in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area, Omo-Agege also predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, saying the ruling party’s hold on the state is weakening.
“Despite the economic hardship, Tinubu has laid a foundation for a more stable and prosperous Nigeria,” he said. “His policies have already increased state allocations, and by 2027, the benefits will be clearer to Nigerians. He will be re-elected convincingly.”
Reflecting on APC’s performance in the 2023 Delta governorship race, Omo-Agege insisted that his party was “cheated” but had learned valuable lessons. “We came so close but fell short. This time, we will be better prepared to take Delta,” he assured.
He acknowledged past mistakes, including poor integration of new members, which caused divisions within the party. “I take responsibility. We could have done better in uniting the old and new members. That mistake won’t be repeated,” he admitted.
Omo-Agege urged aggrieved APC members to put aside differences and focus on the bigger picture. He also called on PDP members to defect, describing their party as a “sinking ship” struggling with internal crises.
“For those who refused to vote in 2023 out of anger, I tell you—boycotting elections only helps the opposition. Come out, vote, and defend your votes,” he charged party faithful.
Reiterating that APC must present a strong and united front, he emphasized that securing Delta in 2027 would require strategic organization and vigilance against electoral malpractice.
“2027 is our moment. With Tinubu’s leadership and a united APC, we will not only retain the presidency but also reclaim Delta from PDP
