DELTA: In a bid to enhance learning in rural communities, Chief David Ejukonemu, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Delta State on Project Monitoring, has donated textbooks, reference materials, and a bookshelf to Sanubi Secondary School, Orogun, in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Speaking at the donation event, which was attended by school staff, community leaders, and party representatives, Ejukonemu described the initiative as part of his commitment to education. He noted that the donation follows the distribution of notebooks and pens to students in September 2024.

“This is a small but important step towards strengthening the school’s library and ensuring students have access to quality learning materials,” Ejukonemu said. “Books are the foundation of knowledge, and I hope this will contribute to academic excellence.”

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his developmental strides, highlighting projects such as the repair of the Old Sanubi-Eku-Abraka Road, the provision of potable water, and the ongoing construction of a three-classroom block with toilets by the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

The school principal, Mrs. Mercy Tegwolor Enamuotor, applauded the donation and acknowledged Ejukonemu’s past support, including assisting with stipends for community teachers and providing accommodation for corps members posted to the school.

She called on the state government to deploy more teachers and expedite the completion of the DESOPADEC classroom project.

Community leaders, including Chief Alex Orogun, PhD, and Chief Lucky Okoro, commended the gesture, describing it as a reflection of Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to grassroots development.

Representing the local party leadership, Mr. Francis Otagba urged the Sanubi community to continue supporting the governor’s administration, emphasizing the need for unity to attract more development to the area.
