DELTA: Grief filled the air in Iyede, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, as Mrs. Hope Sadhere, wife of Delta journalist Francis Sadhere, was laid to rest on Friday, March 21, 2025.

The somber ceremony drew family, friends, and colleagues who paid glowing tributes to the late Mrs. Sadhere, who passed away at the age of 43.

Tears flowed as her daughter, Uyoyo, and other loved ones recalled her selfless nature. Describing her as “kind, accommodating, and a unifier,” a relative said, “Sister Hope was someone I could call for help at any time of the day. She would never say ‘no.’”

The funeral service, marked by solemn worship, was officiated by Pastor Michael Okugbere, Senior Pastor of Deliverance and Instant Answer Ministry (DIAM), Ughelli.

As hymns such as “My Hope is Built on Nothing Else” and “It Is Well with My Soul” echoed through the gathering, the cleric urged mourners to reflect on their lives and strive to live righteously.

Delivering a sermon, Pastor Enoch Akpoviroro emphasized the need for a life pleasing to God. “Hell is real, heaven is real, but the question is, where will we be after now? When you die without pleasing God, where do you choose to be?” he asked, encouraging attendees to seek eternal rest in God’s embrace.

Among those present were members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, as well as relatives and church members.

Chairman of NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, Victor Okpomor, extended condolences to the Sadhere and Edoriahwe families of Uzere and Emevor in Isoko South and Isoko North LGAs, respectively.

He prayed for God’s strength to uphold them in their grief and for the departed soul to find eternal peace.
