£100,000 Worth of Cocaine Discovered on British Airways Flight at Gatwick

A stash of cocaine valued at approximately £100,000 was discovered hidden in the toilet of a British Airways aircraft during routine maintenance at Gatwick Airport.

The drugs were found by a service engineer who noticed the suspicious package concealed behind a panel while the Boeing jet was undergoing checks in a hangar. The aircraft had recently arrived from Orlando, Florida.

Authorities were immediately notified, and both Border Force and the National Crime Agency have launched an investigation into the incident.

A source close to the inquiry described the discovery as “astonishing” and a significant security breach.

“This is a serious concern,” the source said. “Someone managed to smuggle the package onto the flight, and it could easily have been a more dangerous substance. It appears the drugs were meant to be retrieved once the plane landed in the UK, but the routine service check thwarted that plan.”

The drugs were reportedly hidden behind a bin panel in the aircraft’s toilet — a spot chosen for its discretion.

“The person behind it got unlucky,” the source added. “The plane was taken in for routine maintenance, much like a car’s MOT, and that’s when the stash was discovered.”
