Kogi Police, Labour Union Forge Alliance to Tackle Insecurity and Promote Stability

In a renewed move to combat insecurity and promote peace, the Kogi State Police Command has pledged to collaborate closely with organised labour in the state. This partnership is aimed at addressing the growing wave of criminal activities, including banditry, kidnapping, and farmers-herders clashes, which have unsettled parts of the state in recent months.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Kogi State Chapter, Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, assured that the command remains committed to building strong alliances for a safer Kogi.

“We are ready to work hand-in-hand with the NLC on matters of mutual interest. The police cannot do it alone, peace and development demand collective responsibility,” CP Dantawaye said at the meeting held in Lokoja on Wednesday.

The Commissioner noted that the force would maintain a cordial relationship with labour, adding that their support would go a long way in enhancing the command’s community policing efforts.

On his part, the state NLC Chairman, Comrade Gabriel Amari, said the union was keen on strengthening collaboration with the police in order to promote peace, stability, and the welfare of workers in the state.

“We believe security is a shared concern. We are committed to supporting the police to ensure law and order prevail in Kogi,” Amari said.

He also urged the police to continue engaging with communities and stakeholders across the state, noting that workers and residents alike deserve a secure environment to thrive.

With the rise in security threats in the state, stakeholders say the police-labour alliance signals a strategic step toward a more united and community-driven response to the challenges.
