DELTA: In a strategic move to guarantee public safety during the Easter holidays, the Delta State Police Command has deployed a large number of officers across the state to ward off criminal activities and ensure a peaceful celebration.

As Christians across Delta State prepare for the festivities, the command assured that it is working in synergy with other security agencies to secure lives and property throughout the season.

Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, who gave the directive, said the operation aims to strengthen visibility policing and preempt threats during the festive period.

“Easter is a time of reflection, peace, and community,” Olufemi stated. “We are committed to ensuring that residents in Delta State can celebrate without fear. Our officers will be fully on ground across worship centers, recreational spots, highways, and other public places.”

He noted that personnel from various tactical squads including the Dragon Patrol, RRS, Raiders Squad, Safe Delta, Safer Highway Patrol, Eagle-Net Special Squad, and Crack Squad would be actively involved in the special operation.

The police chief also mandated all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering to prevent any security breaches.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement officers by reporting suspicious activities. “Security is a shared responsibility. We encourage citizens to be law-abiding and work with us to keep the state safe,” he said.

The deployment, according to the police, is part of a broader plan to maintain law and order beyond the Easter celebration, ensuring criminals have no hiding place.
