Mele Kyari, the former Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to sources confirmed by TheCable.

Kyari, along with several recently dismissed top officials of the national oil company, is reportedly under investigation for alleged mismanagement of funds and abuse of office.

Sources indicate that Kyari was taken into custody on Friday and is expected to remain with the anti-corruption agency through the weekend.

While EFCC officials have not publicly commented on the matter, a leaked letter addressed to Bayo Ojulari, the newly appointed Group CEO, has surfaced online and is currently making the rounds on social media.
