Public Outcry as Nigerians Urge EFCC to Arrest Tompolo Over Naira Abuse

Nigerians have urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for allegedly abusing the naira.

Tompolo, a former militant leader and activist from Delta State, is at the center of controversy after a video surfaced showing him involved in actions considered as naira abuse.

The video, which reignited public scrutiny of the EFCC’s operations, has sparked widespread calls for accountability.

Investigations by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) revealed that the clip was originally recorded in April during Tompolo’s 54th birthday celebration.

However, it re-emerged on social media on Sunday morning when X user Harrison posted it with the caption: “EFCC see Tompolo and the Naira o.”

The incident has fueled criticism of the EFCC, with many accusing the agency of selective enforcement of laws.
