Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, saying the North West region is witnessing significant progress under the current administration. Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) North West Stakeholders Meeting held in Kaduna on Saturday, Governor Sani described the zone as the “heartbeat of the APC” and said the region has greatly benefited since Tinubu assumed office.
According to the governor, President Tinubu took charge of the country during one of the most challenging times in its history. He commended the President’s willingness to take tough decisions and pursue bold reforms with “uncommon courage.” Sani said these decisions are beginning to yield positive results, and Nigerians are now recognizing Tinubu’s genuine intentions for national development.
“Before President Tinubu assumed office in 2023, the North West was the epicentre of banditry, terrorism, and violent crime,” the governor recalled. “People couldn’t travel safely, and farmers were cut off from their lands. Life was, indeed, nasty, short, and brutish in the North West. But two years in, the situation has significantly improved.”
He credited Tinubu for stabilizing security in the region and providing farm inputs to boost agriculture. Sani also noted that the North West has received considerable political appointments at the federal level, including 12 ministers — the highest for any region. He highlighted other key positions such as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Senate President, the National Chairman of the APC, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff.
Governor Sani pointed to several infrastructure projects underway in the North West as evidence of the administration’s commitment to the region. These include the completion of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano dual carriageway, the Ilella–Badagry road, rail projects in Kaduna and Kano, and the construction of the Birnin Gwari–Kaduna and Jere–Kafanchan roads.
He also referenced the N95 billion earmarked for the rehabilitation of three dams in Kano, the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development, and the creation of the North West Development Commission — which received the highest allocation among regional development agencies.
Additional federal initiatives mentioned by the governor include the creation of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, Kaduna State, and the conversion of Patrick Yakowa General Hospital in Kafanchan into a Federal Medical Centre.
Governor Sani concluded his remarks by calling for continued support for President Tinubu, emphasizing his mission to rebuild the economy, eradicate hunger and poverty, and restore Nigeria’s global standing. He described the President as a “true father and friend” of the region and urged stakeholders to begin mobilizing support for his re-election in 2027.
