Tinubu Swears In New NNPCL Board, Reaffirms Commitment to Energy Reform

ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu on Thursday officially swore in the newly constituted 11-member board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), appointing Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) and Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman.

The ceremony, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, took place ahead of the APC National Summit, underscoring the administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s energy governance.

The new board, effective April 2, 2025, features appointees from all six geo-political zones, blending regional representation with industry expertise.

Board members include:

  • Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu – North-West
  • Yusuf Usman – North-East
  • Babs Omotowa (former MD, NLNG) – North-Central
  • Austin Avuru – South-South
  • David Ige – South-West
  • Henry Obih – South-East

Also sworn in were Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, representing the Ministry of Finance, and Aminu Said Ahmed, representing the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The swearing-in was witnessed by key ministers including Wale Edun (Finance), Mohammed Idris (Information), and Senator Heineken Lokpobiri (State for Petroleum, Gas).

President Tinubu said the appointments reflect his commitment to reforming Nigeria’s energy sector, boosting accountability, and driving long-term national development.
