Delta APC Chieftain Ayiri Emami Backs Open Primaries, Affirms Loyalty to Tinubu and Omo-Agege

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Ayiri Emami, has declared that the party will adopt an open primaries for House of Assembly, chairmanship, and councillorship positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the residence of Prince Francis Agbowosile in Warri, Emami reiterated his commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and clarified that the political understanding that led to the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and some PDP members into the APC applied solely to the governor.

Emami urged both old and new APC members to prioritize the party’s interest and work in unity. He also acknowledged the efforts of the APC’s 2023 governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, in building a strong political structure for the party in the state.

“There will be no automatic ticket for any aspirant; all elective positions must be contested. While we welcome new entrants, we will not abandon our foundational leaders, particularly Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, whose structure we continue to rely on,” Emami stated.

He further pledged support for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, affirming that party unity and grassroots engagement will drive the APC’s success in future elections.
