DELTA: Residents of Aruton and Oporoza communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State have expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB), Escravos, for organizing a free medical outreach that benefited over 1,700 individuals.

The outreach, held as part of the Navy’s year-end activities, included medical consultations, treatment for common ailments, blood pressure and sugar level checks, health education, and the distribution of treated mosquito nets.

Speaking at the event, Navy Capt. Ikenna Okoloagu, Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, emphasized that the initiative aimed to strengthen the bond between the Nigerian Navy and its host communities.

“This medical outreach is part of the Nigerian Navy’s civil-military cooperation efforts, a non-kinetic approach to foster goodwill and collaboration with our host communities. By addressing healthcare challenges, we hope to reinforce our existing cordial relationship, Capt. Okoloagu said.

He explained that Aruton and Oporoza were specifically selected for their contributions to the operational success of the Navy in Escravos, highlighting the significance of the cooperation between the Navy and these coastal communities.

In Aruton, Mr. Daniel Uwawah, the Olaraja of Ugborodoland, commended the Nigerian Navy for its efforts and urged residents to maintain a positive relationship with the military.

“We are very happy with the Nigerian Navy. Their presence has always been beneficial, and this outreach strengthens our bond. We hope this relationship continues,” Uwawah said.
