DELTA: Troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have successfully rescued four kidnap victims from the Ugbolu forest in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The operation, conducted on Monday, December 9, 2024, was based on credible intelligence about the activities of suspected kidnappers in the area.

“Our troops conducted a well-coordinated raid on the kidnappers’ hideout and rescued four victims unharmed after engaging the criminals in a fierce gun battle,” said Major Emmanuel Onoja, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, in a statement.

The operation reportedly involved a heated gunfight that forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee into the forest.

“The kidnappers were overpowered and had no choice but to flee, leaving the victims behind. Fortunately, all the abductees were rescued without any injuries,” Major Onoja added.

The rescued victims, whose identities remain undisclosed, are receiving care and support at a secure location.

Major Onoja assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.

“Our troops are actively pursuing the criminals. We remain steadfast in our mission to rid Delta State of all forms of criminality,” he said.

The Army has called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies to aid their operations.
