Strong indications have emerged of fresh political tension for Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central), as Senate President Godswill Akpabio has relieved her of her position as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs.
This latest move comes just months after Senator Akpoti Uduaghan was removed as Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Content back in February. At the time, she was reassigned to head the Diaspora and NGOs Committee a position she now no longer holds.
She has been replaced by Senator Aniekan Bassey (Akwa Ibom North East), a member of the same 10th Senate.
With this shake-up, Senator Akpoti Uduaghan is currently left without the leadership of any Senate committee, fueling speculation about growing political undercurrents within the upper chamber.
Neither the Senate President nor Akpoti Uduaghan has made an official statement on the development at the time of reporting.
