Northwest Declares Tuesday Public Holiday to Honour Buhari

The Northwest Governors Forum has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a public holiday across all seven Northwestern states to honour the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in the UK.

Forum Chairman and Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, described Buhari as a “patriotic leader” whose death is a major national loss.

Buhari’s remains are scheduled to arrive in Daura by 12:00 p.m. today, with burial at 2:00 p.m. in line with Islamic rites.

The public holiday is being observed in Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara, allowing citizens to mourn and pay respects.

Radda extended condolences to President Tinubu, the Buhari family, and all Nigerians, praying for the late president’s peaceful rest in Aljanah Firdaus.
