Nigerian music star Burna Boy gave fans across the world, especially in Nigeria, a proud moment as he headlined the England Lionesses’ victory celebration following their UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 win. The exclusive party took place at Buckingham Palace, blending royalty, football glory, and Afrobeats energy.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman, who has openly shown her love for Nigerian music, said Burna Boy’s appearance was special for her and the team. “I am a huge fan of Nigerian music, especially Burna Boy. Having him here made this victory celebration even more unforgettable,” she said as the “African Giant” electrified the palace with his performance.

The Lionesses had battled past Sweden with a late winner in the quarterfinals, overcame Italy in a tense semifinal with strong defending, and defeated Spain on penalties after a goalless final to retain their European crown.

Before the final, the players had revealed on the BBC’s Tooney Russo show that Wiegman regularly played Burna Boy’s songs during training. That connection made the performance even more meaningful as the team danced to hits like “Last Last” and “City Boys.”

For many Nigerians, the moment was more than entertainment. It was global recognition of African music and culture. Burna Boy’s presence at the heart of a European football celebration showed how far Nigerian talent has travelled — from Lagos to London, from the stage to Buckingham Palace.

As the Lionesses celebrated their hard-fought triumph, Burna Boy’s electrifying set added magic to the night and further sealed his place as a global ambassador of Nigerian excellence.
