EDUCATION: Olu of Warri Extends Bursary Scheme to Accommodate More Students

First List of Beneficiaries Released..

The Office of the Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has released the first official list of beneficiaries of the Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR Itsekiri Students Bursary Scheme, marking a major step in the monarch’s vision to promote higher education among Itsekiri youths.

The list, published on Thursday, contains the names of hundreds of successful applicants from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria, ranging from universities and polytechnics to colleges of education and health sciences. The initiative is aimed at supporting deserving Itsekiri indigenes currently pursuing undergraduate and professional studies, particularly those in 200 level and above.

BURSERY EXTENSION
In a public announcement, the Office noted that the process of selection followed the closure of the bursary application portal. However, to fulfill the target of empowering 1,000 students, an opportunity has been extended to additional Itsekiri communities to submit nominations for the final batch of beneficiaries.

Each of the listed communities has been invited to nominate three qualified students from their areas. Communities are strictly advised to avoid duplicate submissions, as previously shortlisted individuals will not be reconsidered.

Required Documents: Admission Letter, Transcript, and other supporting academic credentials

Eligibility:
Must be an Itsekiri indigene and currently in 200 level or higher

This educational intervention, inspired by His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, reflects a broader commitment to empowering the next generation through access to quality education and capacity development.
The Office expressed appreciation to the Itsekiri nation for their continued cooperation and reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparent and inclusive implementation of the bursary scheme.
