The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday confirmed Ambassador Umar Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the party.
The confirmation was made during the party’s 102nd NEC meeting held at its national headquarters in Abuja.
Proceedings at the meeting were briefly suspended to allow for Damagum’s swearing-in, conducted by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Barrister Kamaldeen Ajibade.
In his acceptance speech, Damagum expressed gratitude to members of the National Working Committee (NWC) for their support, which he said made his task easier. He also thanked NEC members for recognizing his efforts at repositioning the party, leading to his confirmation.
