Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami (Gomo III) has been announced as the new Emir of Zuru, Kebbi State.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Garba Dutsin-Mari, made the official announcement on Thursday at the Zuru Emir’s Palace, where he also presented the appointment letter signed by Governor Nasir Idris.

Dutsin-Mari explained that the appointment followed the submission of three names by the Zuru Emirate Council’s Kingmakers, from which the Governor approved Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami in line with constitutional provisions.

Before the formal presentation, the Sarkin Wasagu, Alhaji Muktari Musa, who had served as Acting Emir since the death of the late Emir, officially received the new Emir and welcomed dignitaries to the palace.

In his acceptance speech, the Emir expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and Governor Idris for the confidence reposed in him. He urged the people of the Emirate to remain peaceful, loyal, and united, while assuring them of an open-door and inclusive leadership style.

The Emir also commended Alhaji Muktari Musa for his leadership during the transitional period and pledged to continue serving the people of Zuru.

The new Emir succeeds the late Major General Muhammad Sani Sami (rtd.), Gomo II, who died recently in a London hospital and was buried at his Zuru residence.
