DELTA: Reports of a dangerous scam involving fake perfumes have resurfaced, sparking public concern. Victims are allegedly drugged and robbed after being lured to sniff what is claimed to be a “sensational perfume.”
A recent incident involved a woman who was approached at a movie theater. According to her, she was given a perfume sample to smell and later woke up to find her belongings stolen.
In another account, a shopper at a mall in Nigeria narrated how two men approached her in the parking lot, offering a discounted perfume. She declined, recalling earlier warnings about such scams. “I immediately stopped a woman heading toward them and told her to be cautious,” the shopper said.
Sources allege that the substance used in these cases, known as Axter, causes victims to lose consciousness. This provides the perpetrators the chance to steal valuables or even kidnap unsuspecting individuals.
A security expert, speaking on the trend, warned, “People need to be vigilant in public spaces. Criminals are evolving their methods, and this perfume scam is one of the latest tricks.”
Avoid interacting with strangers offering samples in malls, parking lots, or public spaces.
Immediately report suspicious activities to mall security or the nearest police station.
