Jigawa APC Warns ‘Badaru Boys’ Over Insubordination, Threatens Sanctions

From Ali Rabiu Ali, Dutse

The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that it will take disciplinary action against members loyal to former governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, over what it described as persistent acts of insubordination and misconduct.

In a statement signed by its Secretary, Muhammad Dikuma Umar, the party accused the group popularly referred to as the  Badaru Boys of causing disruptions at political events and attempting to discredit the administration of Governor Malam Umar Namadi.

The APC cited incidents in Majiya, Gumel, and during the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency bye-election where the group allegedly stirred chaos. It also noted a recent town hall meeting in Kafin Hausa, the governor’s hometown, where the group reportedly hurled abuses at government officials.

The statement further accused the loyalists of using both mainstream and social media to launch verbal attacks against the Namadi administration.

“The mischief of the Badaru Boys is too much. The attitude, which risks embarrassing the party and bringing it into disrepute, is punishable under Article 21 of the APC Constitution,” the statement read.

While expressing disappointment that the former governor had not reined in his supporters, the party praised Governor Namadi for exercising restraint in the face of provocation.

It warned that unless the misconduct stops, constitutional provisions would be invoked to restore discipline. The party also called on security agencies to take proactive steps to prevent political rivalry from degenerating into lawlessness.
