DELTA: Passengers traveling from Abuja and Itakpe via the railway were delayed on Saturday after a train derailed at Okpara, Delta State. While there were no casualties reported, the incident disrupted schedules, leaving commuters stranded as technicians worked to restore operations.Comrade Israel Joe, a social advocate, confirmed the situation, urging Nigerians to check on their loved ones traveling on the route.“The train derailed at Okpara, and technicians are currently working to resolve the issue. Another engine is being dispatched from Agbor to Okpara to ensure the train continues its journey to Ujevwu and Warri. Passengers should expect delays but can rest assured that there are no casualties,” he stated.Comrade Joe used the incident to highlight the importance of competency in Nigeria’s transportation sector. “This situation underscores the urgent need for improved management and efficiency across all sectors of our nation. It’s a call for accountability and proactive measures,” he added.Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the derailment, but efforts are ongoing to minimize disruptions and ensure passengers reach their destinations safely.
