Olu of Warri Delivers Keynote Address on National Security at AFCSC

JAJI, KADUNA – His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, delivered a keynote lecture at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, Kaduna, on Wednesday. The lecture was part of the final training exercise, Haske Biyu 2025, for senior military officers and security stakeholders from Nigeria and beyond.

In his address, titled “Strengthening Family Values as a Force for National Security: The Role of Traditional Institutions,” the Olu of Warri emphasized that national security is not solely a military concern but is deeply intertwined with the moral fabric of society. He called for stronger collaboration between traditional institutions and the armed forces, noting that values instilled within families are the bedrock of national cohesion and resilience.

A Call for National Introspection

His Majesty urged a national introspection, stressing that addressing Nigeria’s deep-seated security challenges requires not only tactical responses but also a societal shift toward restoring core values. He described moral integrity as a “force multiplier for peace and progress,” reinforcing the idea that a value-driven approach is essential for a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

The Olu of Warri commended the college for the invitation and expressed his hope that the participants would integrate the wisdom gained from their training into a broader, values-driven approach to their careers.

Following the lecture, His Majesty was received by the Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Academy. He briefly addressed the cadets, commending their dedication and admonishing them to be good ambassadors for their families and the academy as they conclude their training.
