Fubara Rededicates Mandate, Says Peace, Faith Will Guide Rivers Future

By Peter Onyekachukwu

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to leading the state with peace and faith as guiding principles, declaring that prayers will remain central to his administration’s journey.

The governor, who made the declaration on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo Town, said he returned to worship quietly with his family to acknowledge God’s faithfulness following the lifting of the six-month state of emergency.

Fubara, joined by his wife, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, and top government officials, described prayers as a spiritual investment that had sustained him through trials and would continue to anchor his leadership.

“When my story ends, this church will lead me to my next journey. It is important I return here to say thank you for what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will continue to do for me, my family, Rivers State, and Nigeria,” he said.

Aligning his message with the International Day of Peace, the governor underscored the centrality of peace in governance and development.

“The greatest gift anyone can wish for is peace. Peace in the home prevents sickness and worry. Peace in the community attracts development. Peace within yourself promotes good health. Truly, peace is the most important thing,” Fubara stressed.

He thanked the people of Opobo for years of fasting and intercession on his behalf, noting that their sacrifices had yielded results. The thanksgiving formed part of the church’s 2025 Harvest of Divine Possibilities, but also doubled as a personal moment of gratitude for the governor.

Governor Fubara urged Rivers people to remain steadfast in prayers and support for his administration, promising renewed dedication to service as his government embarks on a fresh phase.

He was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Edison Ehie, local government leaders, and community stakeholders.
