Nigerian Customs Deploys High-Tech Scanners at Apapa Port to Boost Efficiency

APAPA, LAGOS – The Nigerian Customs Service is making significant progress on its modernization project with the installation of fixed scanners at Apapa Port. According to Comptroller Oluwadare Oshoba, the Customs Area Controller of the Apapa Port Command, this development will lead to a more efficient and seamless trade process for all port users and stakeholders.

In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Tunde Ayagbalo, Comptroller Oshoba revealed that three new scanners are being installed. He expressed confidence that the scanners, which have the capacity to examine 200 containers per hour, will help the Command exceed expectations.

Comptroller Oshoba described the quayside location for the scanners as an “operational masterstroke,” explaining that their proximity to the berthing area will ensure that no consignment escapes “high-tech driven, non-intrusive inspection” at the port.
