HRH Queen Chanel, mother of Prince Oduduwa of Iwo Kingdom, has dismissed recent allegations made in a viral video by the Oluwo of Iwo, describing them as “lies from the pit of hell.”
In a press release on Friday, Queen Chanel clarified that His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, had no connection to the issues raised by the Oluwo.
She explained that she met Mr. Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, through a popular Lagos monarch at a party in Ikeja, not through the Ooni of Ife as widely claimed.
According to her, the Lagos monarch, whom she still regards as a father figure, never introduced her to Akanbi with any malicious intent.
Queen Chanel recalled visiting the Lagos monarch alongside Mr. Akanbi and their son, Prince Oduduwa, years ago, stressing that those were cherished family memories.
She further revealed that for over five years, Mr. Akanbi has not been emotionally or financially involved in Prince Oduduwa’s life, except for a recent visit to Canada in August when he gave $500 but declined to sign travel documents for his son.
Despite this, she noted, she had remained silent to encourage peaceful co-parenting and ensure her son’s well-being.
Queen Chanel urged the public to disregard the allegations against the Ooni of Ife, describing him as the foremost monarch of the Yoruba race whose integrity must not be dragged into baseless controversies.
She also called on the traditional institution to caution the Oluwo of Iwo against further damaging the sanctity of Yoruba culture and monarchy.
“This shall be my final statement on matters concerning Mr. Akanbi,” she declared, reaffirming her commitment to raising Prince Oduduwa with love and respect for the Yoruba people.
