Residents across Delta State including market women, motorists, parents, and students on Wednesday, October 8, received souvenirs and goodwill messages from officers of the Delta State Police Command in celebration of the 2025 Customer Service Week.
The outreach, which spanned several towns such as Warri, Ughelli, and Sapele, formed part of the Command’s renewed effort to strengthen its relationship with the people and appreciate their partnership in ensuring peace and security.
Speaking during the event, Police Commissioner CP Olufemi Abaniwonda said the gesture was a non-kinetic approach to policing, aimed at bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community.
“This initiative is our way of showing appreciation to Deltans for their cooperation with the Command in crime prevention. It’s about connecting with the people we serve and sustaining trust,” he said.
Souvenirs, books, and other gift items were distributed to road users, traders, and schoolchildren across the state as part of the outreach.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, explained that the Customer Service Week presented an opportunity for the Command to recognize residents as key stakeholders in the fight against crime.
“The protection of lives and property is our core mandate, but we cannot achieve it alone. The public are our customers our partners in crime fighting,” Edafe stated.
He emphasized that the Command’s success in combating crime in recent months was largely due to the cooperation and intelligence support received from members of the community.
The global event, themed “Mission Possible,” celebrates individuals and organizations that demonstrate excellence in service delivery and human relations.
The Delta State Police Command said it will continue to adopt people-oriented policing strategies that foster mutual respect and community participation in security management.
“We will sustain this approach as part of our mission to serve and protect with empathy,” CP Abaniwonda affirmed.
