North Central Youths Applaud Amupitan’s INEC Appointment, Pledge Support to Tinubu

ABUJA—The nomination of Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been applauded by the North Central Youth Council of Nigeria (NCYCN), which described the appointment as both historic and a milestone for regional inclusivity in national leadership.

In a statement signed by the Council’s Speaker, Hon. Sunday Asuku, the youth body expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that Professor Amupitan’s nomination marks the first time a son of the North Central region has been considered for the high-profile position since INEC’s establishment.

The NCYCN characterized the nomination as a clear reflection of President Tinubu’s dedication to the principles of fairness, justice, and equitable representation across all of Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.

“We express our profound gratitude to Almighty God and appreciation to President Tinubu for this gesture, which underscores his administration’s commitment to fairness, justice, and inclusivity,” the statement read. The group added that the appointment aligns perfectly with the President’s renewed hope agenda, which aims to promote balanced national representation and good governance.

The Council also expressed strong confidence in Professor Amupitan’s suitability for the role, highlighting his distinguished professional track record. “We are confident that Professor Amupitan’s vast knowledge, experience, and expertise in law, academics, and public service make him the ideal candidate for this role,” the statement affirmed.

Hon. Asuku congratulated Professor Amupitan on his nomination, urging him to lead the electoral commission in a manner that will bring pride to both the North Central region and the entire nation through credible electoral leadership.

The NCYCN concluded by reaffirming its commitment to national unity and development and pledging its unwavering support for the Tinubu administration, expressing optimism that the government would succeed beyond 2027.
