Delta State Launches Security Trust Fund (DSSTF)

Asaba, Delta State — The Delta State Government today formally launched the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF) during a prestigious fundraising event at the Government House Banquet Hall in Asaba. The high-profile occasion signals a new, collaborative approach to tackling insecurity, uniting traditional institutions, corporate leaders, and philanthropists.

The launch drew an impressive and influential dignitaries, including His Majesty The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, alongside an estimated 150 billionaires, business magnates, and philanthropists. The presence of the revered Royal Father underscored the broad-based communal commitment to the fund’s success.

The event was chaired by Mr. Abogbe Ag-Imoukhuede, CFR, the Group Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, lending significant corporate weight to the proceedings.

Sharing strategic insights was the Keynote Speaker, DIG Marvel Akpoyibo (retd), Esq., ONR (Rtd), a seasoned law enforcement veteran who provided expertise on community policing and intelligence-driven security strategies.

Hon. Daniel Mayuku, the newly appointed Chairman of the DSSTF, outlined the fund’s specific objectives: making targeted investments in surveillance technology, upgrading police infrastructure, and expanding youth empowerment programs to deter recruitment into criminal networks. Mayuku called the fund “a beacon of hope for our people.”

Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on crime. He praised the gathering as a “united front against the shadows of insecurity” and pledged to replicate the successful Lagos State Security Trust Fund model.

The Governor stressed that the state is not just seeking donations but “investing in a prosperous future for Delta’s children.” With the event’s tagline being: “Enhanced Peace and Security in Delta State is a task that must be accomplished,” initial indications suggest the fundraising drive is set to surpass its original targets, providing a crucial boost to the state’s security apparatus.
