AWKA—The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared its full operational readiness for the Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for this Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Speaking at the final stakeholders meeting in Awka, Dr. Ken Ukeagu, the Supervising National Commissioner in charge of the state, unveiled comprehensive details on personnel, technology, and logistics, assuring all parties that the Commission would remain neutral.

Dr. Ukeagu confirmed that the Commission’s systems are robust and ready for deployment:
- Personnel: 24,000 ad-hoc staff have completed their training and will be deployed for the exercise.1
- BVAS Configuration: 6,879 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices, including backups, have been fully configured and tested.
- Functionality Test: Mock accreditation exercises confirmed the seamless operation of both the BVAS and the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) Portal.

To ensure timely material delivery across the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs), 326 Registration Areas, and 5,718 Polling Units, INEC has finalized extensive logistical arrangements:
- Vehicles: Approximately 3,000 vehicles, 6,520 motorcycles, and 83 boats are procured for movement.
- RAC Activation: Registration Area Centres (RACs) will be activated by noon on Friday, November 7.
- Sensitive Materials: These materials are scheduled to arrive on Thursday, November 6, under the observation of stakeholders.
The Commissioner stressed that voter integrity and inclusivity are central to the process:

- Media: 76 organizations with 540 personnel.
- Observers: 114 domestic and seven international observer missions.
- Party Agents: 67,152 agents will be on ground at polling units and collation centers.

Dr. Ukeagu concluded with an assurance of the Commission’s neutrality, stating that INEC would neither favour nor act against any political party or candidate, with adherence to the Constitution and Electoral Act as the sole guiding principle.
