The Nigerian Army and TotalEnergies Upstream Companies in Nigeria have deepened their partnership with the commissioning of a 24-bed hospital block at the Medical Services and Hospital, Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State.

The project, built and equipped by TotalEnergies, is aimed at enhancing healthcare services for troops and their families while boosting the morale of personnel safeguarding vital oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta.

Managing Director and Country Chair of TotalEnergies, Mr. Mathieu Bouyer, who spoke during the commissioning, said the project demonstrates the company’s appreciation for the Army’s continuous support in providing security for its operations in the region.

He expressed satisfaction with the timely completion of the project, adding that the partnership between the 6 Division Nigerian Army and TotalEnergies would continue to produce impactful initiatives for the wellbeing of personnel and the host communities.

Also speaking, the company’s Deputy Managing Director, Joint Ventures Assets, Mr. Oliver Cassossoles, described the project as one of the many ways TotalEnergies supports institutions that promote peace and stability in the region.

Performing the official commissioning, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation Delta Safe, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, said the project was a morale booster and a reinforcement of the troops’ fighting spirit.

Major General Emekah commended TotalEnergies for its generosity and partnership, noting that the facility would ease congestion in existing wards and improve the quality of healthcare for military personnel and their families.

He said: “This project signifies hope, care, and compassion for our officers, men, and their families. It will greatly enhance our capacity to deliver quality medical care and foster recovery and comfort.”

Emekah urged the Division’s medical team to maintain the new facility and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, assuring that the Army remains committed to protecting TotalEnergies’ assets and personnel in the Niger Delta region.
