Sowore Alleges Harassment as Regina Daniels’ Brother Faces Trial

By Peter Onyekachukwu

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has accused Senator Ned Nwoko and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command of intimidating family members of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels following the arrest and arraignment of her brother, Samuel Ojeogwu.

Sowore claimed that after his intervention in Regina’s case, the senator and some police officers allegedly began threatening to arrest and arraign members of her family, including her mother, to compel them to apologise and return Regina to a rehabilitation centre in Abuja.

He described the situation as “a clear case of abuse of power and police impunity,” urging Nigerians to speak against what he termed “cash and carry policing” under the watch of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The activist, who made the claims in a post on Friday, wrote: “After our intervention this morning, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko and his police collaborators have commenced threatening Regina Daniels’ family members, insisting they apologise and facilitate her return to rehab in Abuja.”

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command confirmed that Samuel Ojeogwu, Regina’s brother, had been arrested and charged to court for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said the charges followed a petition filed against Ojeogwu and three others on October 28, 2025.

According to her, Ojeogwu repeatedly ignored police invitations before he was arrested in Lagos on the authority of a court warrant and transferred to Abuja for questioning.

She said, “Upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspect was charged in court on November 6, 2025, and remanded pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.”

Adeh reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism and due process, stating that the case was handled in line with the law.

Senator Nwoko, who reportedly filed the petition, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations of harassment raised by Sowore.
