Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the newly crowned Ovie of Udu Kingdom, HRM Engr. Mike Orugbo, urging him to use his reign to promote peace, unity, and development across the kingdom.
In a grand ceremony, HRM Engr. Mike Orugbo was formally presented with the Staff of Office as the new Ovie of Udu Kingdom, marking a significant milestone in the kingdom’s history.
The event, held at Otor-Udu, the traditional headquarters of Udu Local Government Area, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme.
The presentation of the Staff of Office was a culmination of the succession process, following HRM Engr. Orugbo’s coronation at the weekend. The new monarch, a renowned business mogul and oil magnate, has expressed his commitment to bringing positive change and development to the kingdom.
Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, praised the new Ovie’s leadership qualities and commitment to serving humanity, stating that his reign is expected to bring renewed hope, progress, and stability to Udu Kingdom.
The ceremony was attended by other notable figures, including Chief Solomon Awhinawhi, who described the new Ovie as a monarch endowed with rare wisdom, clear vision, and a divine mandate to foster unity, peace, and development across Udu land.
The presentation of the Staff of Office is a significant event in Udu Kingdom’s history, and it is expected to usher in a new era of peace, prosperity, and progress for the kingdom and its people.
The coronation of the Ovie (King) of Udu Kingdom at Otor-Udu, Delta State, took place at the weekend. November, 2025. The coronation of Engr. Mike Ogheneovo Orugbo, OKPORUA 1, was appointed as the Ovie of Udu Kingdom.
The coronation ceremony was held at the palace in Otor-Udu. And was attended by a massive jubilant crowd from Udu indigenes, traditional rulers from across Delta State, top government officials, and community leaders.
The event was steeped in an age-old custom, beginning with the formal presentation of Engr. Mike Ogheneovo Orugbo to the Udu kingmakers by the OKPORUA ruling house. After the affirmation, the atmosphere exploded in celebration as the people trooped to the palace ground.
The newly appointed king made a promise of unity and development in his first public address as the Ovie. Engr. Mike Ogheneovo Orugbo thanked the Udu people for their trust and confidence.
