President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has appointed Dr. Anietie John Ukpe as Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) in his office, effective November 1, 2025.
The appointment, conveyed through the Directorate of Human Resources and Staff Development of the National Assembly, underscores Akpabio’s determination to enhance research, strategy, and communication within the Senate President’s office.
Dr. Ukpe, a veteran journalist and communication scholar, brings more than 30 years of experience in media, strategic communication, and public relations.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ukpe holds a Ph.D. in Business and Organizational Communication and previously served as Director General of the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC).
Until his latest appointment, he headed the Research and Speech Communication Unit in the Senate President’s Office, where he contributed to legislative communication and policy strategy.
Known for his passion for leadership and mentorship, Dr. Ukpe has delivered keynote addresses and facilitated workshops in and outside Nigeria on communication ethics and youth empowerment.
He is also an ordained minister dedicated to promoting value-driven public service and leadership excellence.
In his new role, Dr. Ukpe will coordinate the Senate President’s communication structure, offer strategic advisory support, and strengthen institutional relations across the National Assembly.
His appointment takes effect from November 1, 2025.
