Popular singer and global music star, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke, has chosen Akwa Ibom as the first Nigerian state to host his music concert, attributing the decision to the “quality facilities” available in the state.avido made the statement on Sunday at a pre-concert reception hosted by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, and Nigeria’s Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, in Uyo.
Akwa Ibom Tops the List for Facilities
The music icon, celebrating his first live show in Nigeria after 14 years on stage, highlighted the state’s inherent potential and commended Governor Eno for maintaining peace and security.
“When we were looking around Africa, five places came, and Akwa Ibom was at the top of the list,” Davido stated. “A lot of people are flying from other states that don’t have this type of facility… You have a standard facility, that’s why we are starting here.”
Davido added that everything about Akwa Ibom is “beautiful,” noting that if all states in the country were comparable, he would be comfortable touring the entire nation.
Governor Umo Eno appreciated Davido for being an inspiration to the younger generation, stating that the musician’s commitment proves to youths that their career aspirations are “possible and achievable.” He also thanked Davido for sharing the stage with local entertainers, providing them with inspiration.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended Governor Eno for his youth and sports-friendly leadership disposition. He praised Davido for choosing the state and urged him to mentor budding Akwa Ibom stars by taking some with him on his international tours.
